Terms & Conditions - Please Read

  1. How are our bicycles so affordable?

Capital Cycles is an established and unique bicycle brand and our ethos is "reliable & affordable". We have kept away from the high costs of unnecessary and expensive features like carbon fibre frames and we have focused instead on the essential components that a good bicycle needs, using only well known, high quality brands. We have a good relationship with our manufacturer, we build large amounts of stock and we have the power to negotiate good prices. This allows us to pass these savings on to you. Finally, we are primarily an online business. This means we have very few overheads and our only substantial overheads are warehousing and staff.

  2. When will my bicycle be delivered?

All orders placed before 1pm and which are going to a UK mainland address are despatched on a next working day delivery service, unless otherwise stated on the product page. Please allow up to 48 hours for your bicycle to arrive before contacting us. If you have requested delivery outside standard UK mainland, we ask that you allow five working days for delivery. If you do not receive your item(s) within these time frames, please contact us, stating your invoice number and we will track your order for you.

  3. Do I need to sign for the delivery?

Yes. All bicycles are despatched by courier. Your order must be sent to a manned address where our courier can obtain a signature. If the courier is unable to make delivery to the specified address and has to return at a later date, a supplementary charge may be added by the courier.

  4. What if the box is damaged when it arrives?

During transport to you the box may occasionally become slightly dented or torn. This is normal and due to the bike being thoroughly protected, it very rarely results in damage to the bicycle. If the box is dented or arrival, you must note this with the courier. Failure to note carton damage with the courier could affect your right to return or replace the bicycle or parts.

  5. My bicycle arrived damaged/items are missing

It is essential that you check your delivery carefully when you open it and notify us of any shortfalls, errors or damaged items within 14 working days. Failure to do so could invalidate your warranty and claims of missing/damaged parts may not be accepted.

Provided the claim is made within a reasonable time, we will arrange either a replacement or spare parts, depending on the situation.

Capital Cycles covers both LOSS and MANUFACTURAL DAMAGE but you must check the item when you receive it. If the outer packaging looks damaged then mark the courier’s form as “Damaged” (please also refer to point 4 above).

  6. My bicycle is faulty, what shall I do?

Almost all problems encountered are assembly issues and can be resolved either by e-mail, by reading the assembly guide or asking a professional bicycle shop. If there is a warranty based (manufactural/structural) problem with your bike, a replacement or spare part will be offered depending on each individual case. We always advise you to read our assembly guide in full, where complete details take you through the building and day-to-day maintenance of your Dutch bicycle. Damage caused during assembly is not covered by Capital Cycles.

Whilst we are always open to comment and feedback, Capital Cycles Ltd will NOT accept a 3rd party opinion of quality and performance as a basis for a refund or return. All bicycles are tested and inspected before they are shipped and all bikes are built to pass all British and European regulation Standards.

We advise you to keep all packaging until you are satisfied with the goods and are sure that they will not need to be returned. Couriers will not accept any goods if they are not in their original packaging. It is the buyers responsibility to repack the bike safely.

  7. Limited Warranty

All bicycles built by Capital Cycles Ltd conform to the latest European Standard regulations: EN14764:2005. All bicycles bought directly from Capital Cycles Ltd after 20th September 2009 have a 2 year limited warranty. Bicycles bought before 20th September 2009 have a 12 month limited warranty. Please retain your parcel summary document/invoice which is proof of purchase and will validate the date from which your guarantee will start. It is essential to keep your parcel summary document/invoice to preserve the guarantee. Bicycles not bought from us direct do not carry a warranty with Capital Cycles. Second hand bicycles sold by us do not have a warranty.
Our guarantee covers all manufacturing defects. In the unlikely event of a structural/manufacturing fault, please contact us directly, in writing (email is acceptable). If it is within 90 days of purchase we will offer to repair or exchange the item for a new product at our discretion. After 90 days and for the remainder of your guarantee period, we will arrange for the product to be repaired only. A warranty claim is only valid once we have assessed the damage and authorised the work to be carried out at a designated repair shop in your area. Should a repair not be possible, we will exchange the product for a new one or the nearest equivalent. In the unlikely event of being unable to exchange we will offer a full refund. In any case, before a product is replaced, it must be returned and inspected.
This guarantee is only valid within the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland and/or Channel Islands.
The guarantee covers domestic use only and excludes faults caused by accident, off road use, neglect, misuse, not following the instructions and normal wear and tear. The parts which are covered by your guarantee include: frame, forks, headset, handlebars, wheels and seat post. Items such as (but not limited to) broken brake cables, broken gear cables, flat tyres, punctured inner tubes, skidded tyres, buckled wheels and snapped chains are not manufacturing defects.
This warranty does not affect your statutory rights.

  8. Bicycle assembly

All bicycles require some minor assembly when they are delivered. Assembly is the buyers responsibility. Capital Cycles provides a detailed assembly guide on its website, including a list of all standard tools needed, to help you complete assembly yourself. Capital Cycles Ltd regret that they can not provide refunds on the basis that a customer can not assemble their bicycle. It is the customers responsibility to find a competent person or bike shop to help. Capital Cycles is not liable to pay for shop labour if you choose to have your bicycle assembled or inspected by a bike shop.

  9. Liability

Since we do not sell bicycles 100% built, we can not conduct a final inspection on the bike. Capital Cycles emphasises that it is your responsibility to make sure that your bicycle is safe to ride and we strongly advise you to have your bike either built or checked by an experienced friend or a bike shop before taking it out on the road. Capital Cycles does not accept liability for damage or injury resulting from components which were insuffciently tightened or adjusted or incorrectly assembled.

NOTE: New parts can work loose

Certain parts of the bike such as the bottom bracket are assembled and correctly tightened by the manufacturer. However, ALL bottom brackets and similar mechanical parts can work loose over a period of time. This means you must check them and tighten them as you go. This is especially true for NEW products and parts that normally go through a bedding in period.

  10. What if only part of your order is in stock?

In the unlikely event that only part of your order is available for shipping, you will be informed of this immediately after placing your order. You will be informed when the items will be delivered and you will have the choice of waiting or cancelling that part of your order.

  11. Do your prices include VAT?

All of our prices include VAT at the standard UK rate of 17.5%. At the checkout you will see the VAT which has been added to the price of your bicycle. All orders made within the EEC are subject to VAT.

  12. Adding to orders already placed

To operate an efficient delivery service and to reduce any chance for error, each order is treated completely independently. Every order is printed, filed in the central office and then sent directly to the warehouse for packing, labelling and despatching. Your bicycle is then collected by the courier who picks up the order and delivers it directly to your deliver address. In order to make sure that mistakes are not made, we cannot add to an order as this could cause a confusion in the order process.

  13. Changing orders already placed

It is only possible to change your order if you establish contact with Capital Cycles immediately after the order has been placed, before the order has been processed by the warehouse.

  14. Special offers and customer promotions

Only one offer/promotion is allowed for each order. For example, if we are offering a free gift on orders over a certain value and you also have a promotional code, only one offer shall be applied to your order.

  15. How accurate is your website?

We do everything to ensure that the descriptions and details of all bicycles are as accurate and up to date as possible, but occasional design improvements to bicycles might mean that the website is not completely up to date. We reserve the right to change model specifications and prices without notice.

  16. Online Security

Capital Cycles uses a completely secure online payment system, combining the time-tested reliance of Sage Pay with the market leading ‘Streamline’ payment system. We take online security extremely seriously and have taken several steps to ensure that your payment information is processed confidentially and completely safely. Details can be found on our payment and delivery page.

In the highly unlikely event of credit card fraud, the credit card issuer usually covers the cost, and as a consumer you should contact your card providers to find out your position.

Technological developments have made online shopping secure and easy. When you order, we need to know your name, email address, mailing address, billing address, credit card number and expiry date. This allows us to process and fulfil your order and to notify you of your order status. NO records of your credit cards details are held by Capital Cycles.

If we do cancel an order, it will be without any cost to you.
