Terms & Conditions - Please Read

  1. How are your prices so low?

We have custom designed each of our bikes to make sure that you are buying what you really need, removing all unnecessary expense. We have a good relationship with our manufacturer, we build large amounts of stock and we have the power to negotiate good prices. This all allows us to pass these savings on to you. Finally, we are primarily an online business. This means we have very few overheads and our only substantial overheads are warehousing and staff.

  2. When will my bicycle be delivered?

All orders placed before 12 noon and which are going to a UK mainland address are despatched on a 24 hour, next working day delivery service. Please allow up to five working days for your order to arrive before contacting us. If you have requested delivery outside standard UK mainland, we ask that you allow seven working days for delivery. If you do not receive your bicycle(s) within these time frames, please contact us, stating your invoice number and we will track your bicycle for you.

  3. Do I need to sign for the delivery?

Yes. All bicycles are despatched by Amtrak Courier. Your order must be sent to a manned address where our courier can obtain a signature. If Amtrak is unable to make delivery to the specified address and has to return at a later date, a supplementary charge may be added by the courier.

  4. Am I eligible for free postage?

All orders posted within mainland UK, without any special delivery request are sent FREE OF CHARGE. Saturday deliveries and all orders outside mainland UK will incur an extra charge. It is up to you to add on the surcharge if it is required, in the checkout. Failure to do so will mean that your bicycle will not be despatched until one of us contacts you and takes payment for the delivery surcharge. This will cause a delay in your bicycle being delivered.

  5. What if the box is damaged when it arrives?

All bicycles are inspected and repacked before they leave our warehouse. Also, we have chosen Amtrak to be our courier over other cheaper couriers, because they are specialists in handling fragile goods. However, during transport to you the box may occasionally become a bit dented or torn. This is normal and due to the bike being thoroughly protected, it very rarely results in damage to the bicycle. If the box is dented or arrival, you must note this with the courier. Failure to note carton damage with the courier could affect your right to return or replace the bicycle or parts.

  6. My bicycle is faulty, what shall I do?

Almost all problems encountered are assembly issues and can be resolved either by e-mail, by reading the assembly guide or on the telephone. This is one of the reasons why you MUST contact us as soon as possible after you receive the bike. If there is a damaged or missing part, you must provide us with your invoice number and we will offer to send you a new one and to pay for labour costs. If there is a warranty based (manufactural) problem with your bike, a replacement or spare part will be offered depending on each individual case. We always advise you to read our assembly and care page in full, where complete details take you through the building and day-to-day maintainence of your Capital bicycle. Damaged caused during assembly is not covered by Capital Cycles, but we do carry lots of spare parts so give us a call and we will see if we can help you out.

Whilst we are always open to comment and feedback, Capital Cycles Ltd will NOT accept a 3rd party opinion of quality and performance as a basis for a full refund or return. All bicycles are tested and inspected before they are shipped and all bikes are built to pass all British Regulation Standards.

We advise you to keep all packaging until you are satisfied with the goods and are sure that they will not need to be returned. Couriers will not accept any goods if they are not in their original packaging. It is the buyers responsibility to repack the bike safely.

My bicycle is damaged/items are missing

It is essential that you check your delivery carefully when you open it and notify us of any shortfalls, errors or damaged items as soon as possible. Failure to do so could invalidate your warranty. If there is any damage to the bicycle or there are any small parts missing, please contact us immediately with your invoice number and we will deal with the matter directly.

Provided the claim is made within a reasonable time, we will arrange either a replacement or spare parts, depending on the situation.

Capital Cycles covers both LOSS and MANUFACTURAL DAMAGE but you must check the item when you receive it. If the outer packaging looks damaged then mark the courier’s form as “Damaged” (please also refer to point 5).

Please note that if you are not at home when the courier arrives he or she will “card” you and either they will re-deliver the item on an agreed day or you can pick it up. Please also note, however, that if you arrange a date/time and then are not in you may then be charged for a third delivery.

  7. Bicycle assembly

All bicycles require some assembly when they are delivered. The folding bikes arrive 95% assembled, the City/hybrid bikes arrive 90% assembled and the Classic Dutch bikes will arrive 85% assembled. Assembly is the buyers responsibility. Capital Cycles provides a detailed assembly guide, including a list of all standard tools needed, to help you complete assembly yourself. Capital Cycles Ltd regret that they can not provide refunds on the basis that a customer can not assemble their bicycle. It is the customers responsibility to find a competent person or bike shop to help. These bikes are flat packed products, hence the lower prices.

    Liability

Since we do not sell bicycles 100% built, we can not conduct a final inspection on the bike. Capital Cycles emphasises that it is your responsibility to make sure that your bicycle is safe to ride and we strongly advise you to have your bike either built or checked by an experienced friend or a bike shop before taking it out on the road. Capital Cycles does not accept liability for damage or injury resulting from components which were insuffciently tightened or adjusted. Capital Cycles cannot accept returns because the customer is unable to complete assembly without help. Neither are we liable to pay for shop labour if you choose to have your bicycle assembled or inspected by a bike shop.

NOTE: New parts can work loose

Please note that all our bikes leave our bike shop or warehouses having been inspected. Certain parts of the bike such as the bottom bracket are assembled and correctly tightened by the manufacturer. However, ALL bottom brackets and similar mechanical parts tend to work loose over a period of time. This means you must check them and tighten them as you go. This is especially true for NEW products and parts that normally go through a bedding in period. However if you suspect a product is faulty - do not hesitate to contact us.

  8. Clearance Bicycles

All bicycles sold as clearance items have been selected as clearance due to imperfections being found on either the paintwork, chaincover, box or mudguards. These imperfections are cosmetic only and do not effect the mechanical condition of the bicycle. All bicycles bought in clearance are still eligable for FREE UK delivery and our 12 month warranty. Clearance bicycles bought cannot be returned for cosmetic reasons.

  9. Warranty

All bicycles bought directly from our website, www.capitalcycles.co.uk are guaranteed for 12 months. Bicycles not bought from our website do not carry a warranty.
Please retain your parcel summary document/invoice which is proof of purchase and will validate the date from which your guarantee will start. It is essential to keep your parcel summary document/invoice to preserve the guarantee. Please also retain the original packaging in case you need to return the product.
In the unlikely event of a fault, please call us directly on 0208 2655586. Returns can only be accepted if written notification has been given (see returns policy). If it is within 90 days of purchase we will offer a refund or exchange for a new product. After 90 days and for the remainder of your guarantee period, we will arrange for the product to be repaired. Should a repair not be possible, we will exchange the product for a new one or the nearest equivalent. In the unlikely event of being unable to exchange we will offer a full refund.
This guarantee is only valid within the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland and/or Channel Islands. This guarantee covers domestic use only and excludes faults caused by accident, off road use, neglect, misuse, not following the instructions and normal wear and tear. The parts which are covered by your warranty include: frame, forks, headset, handlebars, wheels and seat post. The part which are not covered under the warranty are: tyres, bearings, inner tubes, brakes, brake pads and wire cables.
This does not affect your statutory rights.

  10. How do I know if the item I want is available?

If a bicycle is available on the website then it is in stock. Any bicycles which are out of stock will have a notification form put on that page and you will not be able to add it to your basket. If you would like to be notified when a bicycle or accessory you want is back in stock, you can fill out the notification form which will be offered to you on the page. We will then contact you as soon as we have stock of that bicycle.

  11. What if only part of your order is in stock?

For the reasons given above in point 12 this cannot happen. You will only be able to order and pay for bicycles which are in stock. This will prevent any disappointment and more importantly it will prevent you from buying something which you then need to wait for.

  12. Do your prices include VAT?

All of our prices include VAT at the standard UK rate of 17.5%. At the checkout you will see the VAT which has been added to the price of your bicycle. All orders made within the EEC are subject to VAT.

  13. Adding to orders already placed

To operate an efficient delivery service and to reduce any chance for error, each order is treated completely independently. Every order is printed, filed in the central office and then sent directly to the warehouse for packing, labelling and despatching. Your bicycle is then collected by the courier who picks up the order and delivers it directly to your deliver address. In order to make sure that mistakes are not made, we cannot add to an order as this could cause a confusion in the order process.

  14. Changing orders already placed

It is only possible to change your order if you establish contact with Capital Cycles immediately after the order has been placed, before the order has been processed by the warehouse.

  15. How accurate is your website?

We do everything to ensure that the descriptions and details of all bicycles are as accurate and up to date as possible, but occasional design improvements to bicycles might mean that the website is not completely up to date. We reserve the right to change model specifications and prices without notice.

  16. Privacy Policy
