WAYS TO AVOID HAVING YOUR BIKE STOLEN
Tuesday, August 11th, 2009it is estimated that around half a million bicycles will be stolen this year. Here are a few tips, courtesy of The London Paper, on how to keep your bicycle:
- Lock your bicycle up in different places every day. This will put a thief regular to that patch, off .
- Fit a shopping basket to the front and/or back. The ‘Mary Poppins’ look doesn’t go down so well on the bicycle black market. For bicycle baskets – click here
- Lock your bicycle through the frames and wheels, never just through the crossbar. For cable locks – click here
- Loop your lock through as much of the bike as possible. Make sure it is not in contact with the ground – this makes it easier to strike through.
- Face the key insert for your lock in towards the bicycle. This will make it much harder for a thief to ‘pick’.
