Capital Cycle put to the test in sprint race from Parliament Square to Putney
I decided to ride one of our bicycles from the heart of London to the suburbs as hard as possible to see how it stood up against constant gear changes, heavy braking and general traffic weaving.
I cycled from Parliament Square in London to Putney bridge (5.8 miles) – in 28 minutes. Not a single nut came loose, nor did i find that 6 gears wasn’t enough. The bike, the upright riding position, the gears and the brakes were perfect:
Easy to weave through traffic
Light and smooth
Comfortable and swift brakes and gears
and owing to the ‘sit upright’ riding position afforded by the swept back handlebars, i could see above the traffic and more importantly, the traffic could see me.
These bikes may be extremely affordable, but what i learnt from this short journey is that these hybrid bikes are perfect and ready for town use, commuting and so much more.
